Brasfield & Gorrie, a Birmingham-based construction company with a monolithic footprint nationwide, announced the culmination of a leadership transition years in the making.
Current CEO Jim Gorrie, along with Founder and Chairman Miller Gorrie, will remain actively involved in the leadership of the company. Rob Blalock, now President of Brasfield & Gorrie, will become CEO on January 1, 2025.
According to the company, Jim Gorrie will support Blalock and the leadership team in his new role as executive chairman of Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC while Miller Gorrie will continue to serve as chairman of the Gorrie Legacy Trust.
“I could not be more confident in the future outlook for our company,” said Jim Gorrie. “Rob’s creativity, passion, and leadership have been evident throughout his career, and we’re thrilled to formalize this transition after years of planning and working closely together.”
Miller Gorrie echoed that sentiment. “The company is in good hands. I have every confidence that Rob will continue to uphold the values and foundation of Brasfield & Gorrie, and the Gorrie Legacy Trust ensures our stability for the long term.”

According to the company, which reported over $5.8 billion in revenue last year, Blalock has been with Brasfield & Gorrie for 26 years, working in a variety of roles including preconstruction, project management positions, and leadership roles prior to his appointment as president in 2022.
During his career, Blalock led major projects, including many commercial and multifamily high-rises, such as 1010 Midtown, 77 12th, and the Loews Atlanta Hotel and Convention Center in Atlanta; Red Hat Tower in Raleigh; and the Omni Hotel and Convention Center in Nashville. Rob was part of the Leadership Alabama Class XXXII, is a member of the Monday Morning Quarterback Club, and has served on major boards, such as the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham.
“I know I have big shoes to fill as I follow Jim, whose leadership has been tremendously important to me throughout my career at Brasfield & Gorrie,” Blalock said.
“Jim followed in his dad’s footsteps by prioritizing treating our clients and subcontractors the way we want to be treated. He also set the tone for collaboration across the company. It’s a huge privilege to carry forward the foundation laid by past generations.”
According to the company, Blalock will continue to guide the company into the future, following the long-range strategic plan that he spearheaded. Now in its second year, the plan has resulted in early wins and strong momentum toward long-term goals. These successes include market sector growth, such as the expansion of heavy civil, mission critical, and industrial work throughout the company’s geographic footprint, as well as recruiting, retention, and innovation efforts, among other achievements.
As part of the transition, Todd Jackson, a 29-year veteran of the company was named President and Alexia Borden is set to be promoted to chief administrative officer.
