Bham Foodie Fest
Get ready for a culinary experience like no other as the inaugural Bham Foodie Fest takes over historic Sloss Furnaces Saturday, Sept. 7, from noon to 6 p.m. The festival will showcase an artisan market, libations, live DJ, roller skating and yard games. In addition to food, drinks and entertainment, the festival will support the community through a charitable raffle benefiting Magic City Harvest. Cullman’s annual Bernard Blues and BBQ
It’s a barbecue lover’s dream this weekend at the eighth annual Bernard Blues and BBQ Sept. 7-8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey and Prep School. Everything from artisans and pottery to clothing for the family can be found, in addition to birdhouses, brooms, wood turned bowls, wreaths, door hangers, honey, jewelry, soap, metal art and glass art. While shopping, enjoy live music, pulled pork, ribs, hamburgers, brats and chicken. Cash prizes total more than $12,000. Admission is a $10 requested donation. Children ages 12 and younger are admitted free. Pets are not allowed. Festival guests can also tour Ave Maria Grotto at a reduced admission of $5 this weekend.
Birmingham Artwalk
On Sept. 6-7, Artwalk will transform Birmingham’s downtown into an arts district, featuring the work of more than 100 visual artists, musicians, street performers, food and drink vendors and children’s activities. It is free to the public and has become a much-anticipated fall event, drawing more than 8,000 people. Attendees will see original work in all mediums priced from the affordable to the extravagant. Participating artists are from Birmingham and surrounding communities. Friday night has been compared to a huge gallery opening with a street festival atmosphere, while Saturday afternoon caters to the family crowd. A kid zone will be available Saturday only, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Artwalk district is on 20th Street from First Avenue North to Fifth Avenue North.
Fiesta Birmingham ticket sales
Save the date for Alabama’s largest Hispanic heritage festival, Fiesta, at Birmingham’s Linn Park on Saturday, Sept. 28. There will be a range of activities throughout, from live music and storytelling to wrestling exhibitions. Performing and visual arts, cultural education, soccer, children’s activities, authentic Latin food, and community and health-related resources are all part of the event.

Tinglewood Festival
Alabama’s premier, all-woodworking art festival will celebrate “Shavings, Smoke and Sound” at Montevallo’s Orr Park Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The award-winning show will have live chainsaw wood carving, woodworking artist vendors, Tim Tingle’s whittling contest and a wooden boat race. Musical acts include the Montevallo High School Jazz Band, Swanglish, Shawn Lackey, Saul Ramirez Y Su Ritmo Tropical and Dwayne Beasley. Festivalgoers will find items such as knives, wooden bowls, vases, jewelry, toys, handcrafted furniture, birdhouses and ornaments. Enjoy a classic car show, children’s activities and food vendors. Artwork created during the festival will be available for purchase. There will also be a drawing and door prizes. Admission is free.
